Warriors bowler Rusty Theron, who has been instrumental to their success in the last couple of seasons, is about to join the IPL for the Kings XI Punjab after revealing that they are interested in signing him. According to The Herald, Theron confirmed that he had been contacted by the franchise but wouldn't reveal more details as there are "some processes that have to followed and cleared before I will be able to say anymore". Which is PC-speak for "I have signed, it's a love-fest, the dream is happening right now". He could be on his way to India on Saturday, following the Standard Bank Pro20 final on Friday night against the Highveld Lions. I had no idea a guy like him would be watched from afar - it's encouraging to know that the IPL scouts have a close eye on things. Theron is easily the best death bowler in limited overs cricket in South Africa right now - it's a good buy for the Kings XI if they go through with it. I have no doubt he'll play an instrumental role in the SB Pro20 final on Friday, whereafter he will get a chance to impress in the Champions League Twenty20 later this year. You know what they say about cream rising to the top? Nice one, dog. Well deserved. |
