The question posed in the title of this article is one I have been struggling with for some time now, since roughly around the time Collingwood, Ian Bell and Graham Onions were saving the third Test on a hot day in Cape Town.

Back then I thought to myself, I thought: "Why, Colly? Why?" My plaintive question continued to hang in the air long after England went home, mingling with the ghosts of broken dreams past.

I thought I'd put it all behind me until I saw Colly on Twitter struggling to decide on what movie to watch tonight: Avatar, Valentine's Day or Invictus.

Someone suggested he try Invictus, to which he replied:

Invictus?? But i can't overlook the fact that the only reason they won was because 12 of the NZ team had food poisoning??!

About an hour later - clearly deciding he wasn't done with hateful, spiteful, nasty, bitchy, queenie little anti-South African outbursts - he tweeted the following:

Wooooooo, well done South Africa, i bet theres not much mention of that in the movie!! Think i'll watch Toy Story instead!!

That's just cold, Colly. By all means steal our Test series, drain our beers, sample our women and beat our homeless people, but don't be taking away our Rugby World Cup victory.

Food poisoning? Bunch of lily-livered losers.

I hope Shakib gets you out, Colly. That'll teach ya.

PS - I'd go with Avatar myself.

I'll be the first to admit that nonchalantly tossing one up to Little Dave Warner - here, in Delhi, on a Friday night - is perhaps slightly more challenging than trying to outfox Boeta Dippenaar on a slow turner in Centurion.
